From Mourning to Dancing…

‘Worthy of the Dance’

I wrote this for a person whose parents had passed away. He felt he had lost the joy associated with them during the holidays. I am sharing this with those of you who have lost a loved one but still want to have joy in you life around the holidays. I pray that this will enlighten you so that the ravages of guilt, hurt and shame will not consume you. I pray the following will enlighten you:

I prayed for a response to your post about going back home for the holidays. Here it is: GO! Go to the places and the relatives that your parents went to, love, laugh, have fun and praise God!

This is why you must go: you are the fruit of your parents. This is a time of celebration of what they put in you. For example, in life a tree/plant will produce a fruit that produces a seed. We eat the fruit and enjoy it, giving praise to what produced it. You are that fruit that proves that your parents existed. (Remember you are also the fruit of Jesus and you have to bear His fruit John 15 )

At my Mother’s homegoing service, I was so over joyed with what her life had accomplished through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit hit me and I began to dance (though not wanting to dance, I wanted to mourn.) I asked myself, why am I dancing? and the spirit replied, ‘because she is worthy of a dance.’ The angels in heaven are rejoicing at her entrance so why should you do anything less?’

Matt 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:22 But rather, you have come to Mount Zion, even to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless multitudes of angels in festal gathering,

Luke 15:7, 10 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. 10. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.)

As I danced the entire church erupted in dance and rejoicing. The joy of who they ‘ARE’ (your parents) should well overcome the sense of loss. The ‘who they are’ is the life they built and the joy it brings is sponsored by God.

Nehemiah 8:10 Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.

Why? You cannot be in 2 places at once. If you are in Joy then there is no room for grief and depression (Oh, grief and depression travel together, you have one you have the other)

John 15:11. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

How do you arrive at this point? You make a decision that they (your parents and your life) are worthy of celebration through your living life abundantly (John 10:10) rather than in grief. You owe them that much; a song, a dance and yes, joy. Now, how do you arrive at that point? You recount all the good that they did.

Here is a biggy. You might have to believe God for a revelation on this. (James 1:5 and Eph 1:16 – 23) As a Christian you do not posses anything or anyone, it all belongs to God. You are a steward and it is your master who has the ability and right to lose or have losses . If that’s the case, it is Jesus who takes the loss, but there are no losses in Christ Jesus.

Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

His job was to recover all that Adam and Eve lost, restoring us back to God’s orignal plan. We are in a perpetual recovery mode when we live in the vine. Being in Christ Jesus (Jesus is the hardware – John 15:4) and His word in you (John 15:4 – the Word of God is the software) enables you to live out His life. (You have the hardware and software, now run the program Gal. 2:20) This supernatural recovery is from God to you and used in every area of your life such as health, finances, protection, deliverances and blessings. Don’t just read this; study it out and make it yours until you are able to preach it!”

I’m reposting this, the relevance is apparent. We all have watched our loved ones leave this earth and the holidays speak the loudest about their absence. We don’t know how to continue the celebration in their absence. Our absented loved ones showed us how! The holidays brought them joy, but yet they too had loved ones that were absent. I don’t remember them being sad. I do remember them being grateful! Grateful for the time that we had together and they were not going to allow lost to enter into the celebration of life. I believe we have to create new families. Not to replace the ones that are not longer here, but to embellish their memories of how they lived for the moment!
