You are the Light of the World! Great…How? Why?

Where is 'The Light' in Your Life.

Most Christians have heard, read and sung about being ‘the light’ of the world. My question to you is, ‘Do you really know, what you are hearing, reading and singing about in being ’the light’ of the world? Well, before you answer and embarrass yourself, let’s go to the scriptures.

Jesus said, ‘I’m the light of the world and the life of man.’ Pause and ponder this by saying it a few times over and over. What does that mean to you personally?

John 8:12

¹²Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.

You have all of these preconceived ideas, please put your Sunday School ideas and songs on the back burner so we can go deeper. Now, look at this verse above again and the one below:

John 1:4

⁴In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.

The word ‘life’ has been transliterated from the Greek (zōē) to mean the absolute fullness of ‘life.’ The ‘life’ being essential and ethical; all ‘life’ belongs to God.  It is through Him, both to the hypostatic “logos” and to Christ in whom the “logos” put on human nature we know as Jesus.

This transliteration of zōē comes from zaō  meaning to live, breathe, be among the living (not lifeless, nor dead).

Look closer at John 8:12 (AMP) Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world…. , when did ‘the Light’ come into the World? The key to that question is the phrase ‘come into the World.’ It tells us in the following verse below:

Genesis 1:3

³And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.

The light in the above scripture refers to the darkness that was upon the earth in Gen 1:2.

²The earth was without form and an empty waste, and darkness was upon the face of the very great deep. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.

What ever caused the darkness was not mentioned in the scriptures. There is nowhere in the ‘accurate’ translations of the bible that God created anything that was dark or not perfect. Why? What God creates reflects who He is. God is perfect and as such He can only create perfect creations. In the creation of satan, he was Lucifer first. A being of ‘free will’ just like you, TO CHOOSE HIMSELF OR HIS CREATOR – GOD TO GOVERN HIS LIFE BY. It is the choices (the ability to choose) that put the icing on the cake or ‘creation.’
