THE CHRISTMAS JESUS

Look what you did to Jesus!

The Christmas Story is modernized and commercialized until the original purpose has been lost. The word Christmas does not even appear in scripture. We want to defend tradition and we do not even know what we are defending. We probably look pretty silly to the secular world. Just give us something to fight over and we will fight. Oh, we will fight alright; not with our money or the Word of God (through prayer) but with a nasty tongue, nasty post or a fist.

Here is the biggie some christian organizations has not been telling the truth about legal actions to stop the use of ‘Merry Christmas’ in businesses, etc; they have hyped this up to use it as an oppurtunity to collect offerings. Oh, yes as a christian I said it. Investigate what you are hearing, read your bibles for yourself, ask questions and act on what you know rather than what you think you know.

Yes, I have noticed more and more stores going with ‘Happy Holidays’ rather than Merry Christmas. Don’t go crazy on me now, you know you have a ‘Christmas tree’ in your house and what does that have to do with the birth of Jesus? (Like there was a ‘Christmas tree’ by the manger where Jesus was laid.)

There are so many made up Holidays during this time of year, yes Christmas is one of them too – check your bible. Yes, people are just as sincere as you are about their holiday too. Yes, I enjoy Christmas and yes I love it. (Put Christmas into its perspective and meaning) But should I love it enough to lose my peace, fight, get crazy over, or disappointed cause I wanted more. Really… really. Keep the ‘Peace’ y’all, that is what Jesus brought:

Luke 2:13-14

Amplified Bible (AMP)

13Then suddenly there appeared with the angel an army of the troops of heaven (a heavenly knighthood), praising God and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased [men of goodwill, of His favor].

I’ve seen more craziness then I care to mention, I too enjoy my share of craziness. But it has to stop, and it can only be stopped by the truth. Our children have become the victims of this craziness, you teach them to share and punish them when they don’t. Yet you’ll flick someone off in the parking lot when they take your parking space. Excuse me, like you really bought property there.

You’ll snatch a sale item out of someones hand to give to someone who’s just going to re-gift it. (I’m rolling on the floor laughing because you think that’s what they really wanted when you didn’t even take the time to ask them.) Do you know what people really wanted this year???? I’ll tell you…many didn’t even know this is what they wanted or needed. ‘IT IS …’LOVE.’

LOVE… LOVE…LOVE… A kind word, a nice gesture, not another toy or gadget kicked to the side. An embrace, a whisper of, ‘I love you.’ Time spent with you… not ‘you and your cell phone Mr./Ms. Rude (you know you so, popular or you so, business LIKE) Things don’t mean love…God means love and He proved it by giving His Son.

What you know about ‘Peace?’ People have died this year over ‘greed, hate and religion.’ And there was no room in the inn… Jesus was homeless y’all. And you put lights on your house (I have lights on my house too.) This is just something to pause (Selah) and think about…OK!

GOD IS LOVE, LOVE CONQUERS ALL…
Much love,
Pastor Harris

What do you need this Christmas? Does it represent a need or a want? There is a difference you know? Will the God in you be represented? These are questions you need ask yourself. You and only you are the true answer. Your family is watching, your peers are watching and the world is waiting on you!!!

  3. Thank you so much Harmony for your insight into the true meaning of Christmas. It’s about love and the value of that love through sacrificial commitment. How many of us would love so deep that you would sacrifice your child to save their life. For example, if your child needed a heart transplant and I would offer out of love my healthy child to save yours. But more than that my child would volunteer his life so I could offer it. This supernatural Love of relationship and fellowship birthed the holiday ‘Christmas’… and yet it is lacking in today’s celebration of Christmas. Spending time not money with love ones shows the value of God’s Love through relationship and fellowship.

    Much love…

  4. Great words of insight. Thanks for sharing. This season and others are 99.9% about how much money can be made. And in all this, we miss the most important thing…the one that loved us enough to come and die for us. Thanks again, David

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. You are so right about the greed that is eating us up as Christians. We have got to pause our lives and see ‘with the eye’s of Jesus;’ if we are mirroring His Words through the life that we are leading.

      Much love…

  5. It’s true! People stress out and get so irritable around Christmas time. If you don’t know the person well enough to get them a gift they won’t want to return, DON’T bother getting them a gift that they WILL return. Such waste. Do something nice instead. The best gift we gave this Christmas to a pair of young cousins who were just starting to grasp the idea was spending time with them. We played for hours with a couple of five year olds. They will remember this more fondly than any new toy they got. This small act wll shape their future far more than any small toy or gadget.
