What Do You Know about Peace?…?

Peace of Mind...

Our quest for ‘Peace’ has long eluded us throughout our lives. Peace is simplistic, and the lack of understanding this is the chaos in your confusion to acquire it. The very word itself prompts an atmosphere of harmony and balance, so we set it eschew with our personal work of achieving it; like we could in ourselves produce peace.

Peace is the state of completeness, soundness that can only exist outside of you and has to come inside to effect a change toward calmness. Why? We are full of emotions that contradict ‘.

For example, you’re having an off day and someone looks at you funny and you lose your ‘supposed’ peace. You confront them by giving them a ‘piece of your mind.’ It’s really your ‘peace’ that you have given them. So maybe the person in question apologized for the funny look and tells you they have ingestion from the brownies you made and gave them.

The transliterated word for peace in the Old Testament is ‘shalowm’ in Hebrew. It is the perfected state of ‘nothing missing and nothing required’. It comes from the transliterated word of ‘shalam’ meaning to be in a covenant of peace, be at peace and to be complete, sound. So if peace is something you have to get then it means you cannot be the source.

Isaiah 26:3

Amplified Bible (AMP)

3You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

The source of Peace is what you must have to maintain your Peace. But how? Look at the following verse:

Isaiah 9:6

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.

This verse is Old Testament, it is a prophecy of the Messiah. The verse is usually used during the Christmas season. We over look the most important part regarding Jesus being the Prince of Peace. Now a Prince can make covenants that are binding, He has the authority and He can establish Law. He, Jesus, being the Prince of Peace makes Him the source of Peace. He can set up and keep up Peace where ever He goes.

Looking at the next verse:

Luke 2:14

Amplified Bible (AMP)

14Glory to God in the highest [heaven], and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased [men of goodwill, of His favor].

We see that Jesus came and established Peace. Then He lived it out destroying every opposition to it. In the latter part of :

1 John 3:8

Amplified Bible (AMP)

8[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].

Here we find that the works of our enemy have been destroyed. It’s also revealed in the following verses:

Ephesians 2:11-17

Amplified Bible (AMP)

11Therefore, remember that at one time you were Gentiles (heathens) in the flesh, called Uncircumcision by those who called themselves Circumcision, [itself a mere mark] in the flesh made by human hands.

12[Remember] that you were at that time separated (living apart) from Christ [excluded from all part in Him], utterly estranged and outlawed from the rights of Israel as a nation, and strangers with no share in the sacred compacts of the [Messianic] promise [with no knowledge of or right in God’s agreements, His covenants]. And you had no hope (no promise); you were in the world without God.

13But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were [so] far away, through (by, in) the blood of Christ have been brought near.

14For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us,

15By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled]; that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace.

16And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.

17And He came and preached the glad tidings of peace to you who were afar off and [peace] to those who were near.

So as Peace, Jesus can give you Peace and the jurisdiction of it.

John 14:27

Amplified Bible (AMP)

27Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

But how can we maintain Peace? We maintain Peace by the verse above, Isaiah 26:3, keeping your mind on Jesus. We also maintain it by:

John 15:7

Amplified Bible (AMP)

7If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

Much love,
Pastor Harris
