How to Pray for Ailing Loved Ones ‘Part 1… As Long as It Takes’

If God has your hands then you have God’s Ears….

We should all pray. Praying should be your way of life. It keeps you humbled; there is only so much mankind can do and then God steps in… Prayer relieves your stress and gives you hope so that your faith will increase. Prayer changes things beginning with you and the perspective on how you see things. It is that sweet surrender to God’s Will by uniting with It.

I can always pinpoint where a person is by the words they use. The next time someone is talking to you take the time to listen, I mean listen. Do not listen for the pauses so you can jump in, but listen to what they are saying. Why is it important to know where a person is? You can’t pray for them correctly if you don’t. Yes, God knows their heart but you don’t know their heart and you want to pray effectively. I’ve seen people contradict themselves in a single sentence. Here is the problem with contradicting yourselves, you don’t get what you are believing or asking God for! Why? Can you really stand in two places at the same time? Try standing in the kitchen and bedroom at the same time… you cant do it. You have to be committed to one place or the other in order to accomplish the task of sleeping or eating.

The Word of God says it like this in the following verse:

James 1:6-8

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.

7For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,

8[For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].

You cannot be all over the place when you want something from God and that is how most Christians are. They are in the world while trying to be in the Kingdom of God at the same time. There is only one prayer that works in the world, that is the prayer of salvation. Why? Because prayer was designed to work in God’s Kingdom with faith as the currency you use to access the things of God. Prayer works in the world only to bring you out of the world.

Colossians 1:13

Amplified Bible (AMP)

13[The Father] has delivered and [a]drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son [b]of His love,

You have to be committed to your prayers as much as to their out come. Your words will place you in a spiritual condition as a believer or nonbeliever. A believer is committed to believing the word of God under any circumstance and no matter what happens. A nonbeliever goes back and forth with his believing, he really thinks he can be in both rooms at the same time. Look at another example of a believer (laser) and a nonbeliever (flashlight), to a babe in Christ they both emit some kind of light, but there is only one real light that will get the job done.

A laser is a beam, a stream of focused light, it’s not like a flash light that is dispersed in a circular pattern. Look at it like this: If I wanted to cut through steel I would use a laser instead of a flashlight even though they both are lights. That is how focused, effective prayer is, it is a laser. Did you know that a laser will travel further then a flash light. This is why you have to know where a person is when you pray for them. If a person is contradicting their faith to be healed then you are using all of your faith and the prayer of agreement is ineffective.

This is the verse that is used for the prayer of agreement:

Matthew 18:19

Amplified Bible (AMP)

19Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and [a]everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.

It’s not that God does not want to give you what you are asking for, it’s not the way it works in His Kingdom. Think about it like this: If I’m in Ohio I cannot use California laws there to win in the Ohio’s courts. Well, before you were saved or born again you were in another Kingdom, the kingdom of darkness. A hit or miss kingdom. We found above from Colossians 1:13 that we were taken out or from the kingdom of darkness into or to the Kingdom of God’s Son, Jesus. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and that is where your prayer should always begin at peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Amplified Bible (AMP)

6For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.

Peace – wholeness, nothing missing nothing required. This is Jesus and when you are in Him that is where you are at peace, that spiritual condition that gives you peace with God and in God.

Ephesians 2:14-16

Amplified Bible (AMP)

14For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us,

15By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled]; that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace.

16And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.

Peace is yours, so you begin prayer in Jesus who is your peace, and your resource to the Father who is your source to everything you need in life. Beginning prayer troubled is a choice. It shows a lack of trust and that you no longer believe God to be your source; you  have exited the Kingdom of God’s Son, Jesus back into the world of nonbelievers… doubled mined (James 1:6-8 above)

John 14:27
Amplified Bible (AMP)
27Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

God has this. He knew about this test before you did and He’s not scared.
