This is one of my final reasons for ‘ Why do bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people?’ We know from scripture that Love covers a multitude of sins:
1 Peter 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].
God is Love, and God is merciful. God approaches every situation with Love. How did He approach the sin of Adam and Eve? With Love by sending His only begotten Son Jesus. This is exactly why, sometimes good things will lead bad people to repentance.
Romans 2:4-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)?
5 But by your callous stubbornness and impenitence of heart you are storing up wrath and indignation for yourself on the day of wrath and indignation, when God’s righteous judgment (just doom) will be revealed.
6 For He will render to every man according to his works [justly, as his deeds deserve]:
7 To those who by patient persistence in well-doing [springing from piety] seek [unseen but sure] glory and honor and [the eternal blessedness of] immortality, He will give eternal life.
8 But for those who are self-seeking and self-willed and disobedient to the Truth but responsive to wickedness, there will be indignation and wrath.
9 [And] there will be tribulation and anguish and calamity and constraint for every soul of man who [habitually] does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile).
10 But glory and honor and [heart] peace shall be awarded to everyone who [habitually] does good, the Jew first and also the Greek (Gentile).
11 For God shows no partiality [undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another].
God is about everyone and everything. He is a just God! He knows that you were dust, born into sin and He doesn’t want you to remain in a fallen state. God is the God of all, the good people and the bad people. God is all about Love and extends His Love to everyone. Just remember this, throughout your lifetime you spent a measure of time on earth being the that ‘good person’ with something bad happening to them. And maybe in other times, you have been the ‘bad person’ with something good happening to them. We sometimes have this grandiose assumption that everything we do is good. We often rationalize away our ‘bad’ actions, but we don’t extend the same rationalization to other people’s actions. We are not perfect, and no one goes through life without hurting another person. But there is hope; Jesus died for people on both sides of the fence.
Ephesians 2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1And you [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins
2 In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God].
3 Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.
4 But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,
5 Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).
6 And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
7 He did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in [His] kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
9 Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]
Finally, never lead your life with a question mark or a ‘why?’ It will stop your spiritual growth and hamper every relationship you will try to have, spiritual or physical. You can’t let the ‘bad you may be in’ settle into the ‘good that you are.’ Instead… allow the bad to be the perfect fertilizer for your personal harvest of dreams. It will tend to blossom you into the person you always wanted to be in life. LIFE IS GOOD! And if it’s not, then MAKE IT GOOD FOR YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE. Never live life vicariously. Live live on purpose!
GOD IS LOVE, LOVE CONQUERS ALL…
